Nom Nom Nom: Steak Chomper @ Stirling Hotel.

While the boy were busy preparing for their big finale, my mind was thinking of somewhere new we could go for a nice dinner before their exam.  Thinking for a bit I thought why not bring Vil to try the 15 dollar T-bone that the Stirling Hotel offers every Sunday.

1

It is a really juicy slab of steak that they offer.  Their basil butter goes nicely with the bed of chips!  I’ve been eating steak two times in a row for dinner.  Become ang moh already!!When we were there, we also saw a few UWA students as well.  Having their dinner before another tedious week of examinations!

Bites: Hog’s Breath @ Northbridge, HK friends :)

Rwarrrr!  Having more free time for myself seems nice.  No need to feel obligated to finish something or to force myself to do something I do not want to. ;-)!  Yesterday I had lunch with fish and bread @ Northbridge.  We had lunch @ Tak Chee well known for its Hainanese Chicken Rice both steamed and fried.  After that went to the hospital with my sister to visit my aunt.  Bought her some flowers and fruits.  But who would have known she would be allergic to it =.=”!

 113

Later in the day I attended Polly’s service and then followed them on to a dinner held for the Hong Kong peeps heading back in a weeks time or so.  Hog’s Breath was the place to be and I can’t help but mention how the food there seems to get better each time I pay them a visit.  We had 18 people there last night and it was quite fun despite the communication gap.  I could understand most of the things they said but found it ridiculously hard to reply back in their mother tongue.  Chatted quite a fair bit with the people around me but it was impossible to reach the ones at the end. ahah.  Could barely see their face omigosh.  Nevertheless, meet some of the peeps that were there yesterday. Pics taken mainly by Polly!

111

Alethia and Polly.

114

Hantu.

112

Mark and Aizayah Isaiah. Oook! I hope I got their names right here @@

115

A quarter of Chris’s head Wilson with rock on and the pretty girl with her peace sign.

116

Cheng HoYan or Zion with Jason.  Both HK peeps.  Jason has promised to deliver me a list of restaurant to visit when I hit the island this X’mas. Sounds sweet!

At this point after talking for like an hour, we were famished.  Like really really hungry oh gawwwwwwd!  Wonder what the hell was happening!  In situations like this, I would normally start ranting to no end but I was well, you could say trying to contain my manners?  But at least the people @ Hog’s Breath tried to make things a little better for us.  They did two things! One:

1111

Free garlic toast for all.  Not the best thing in the world, but it held our tummies for maybe another 10 minutes? xD

And also to compensate us, they unleashed the BIG BIG PIG, the infamous Pink Hog mascot

117

Pauline, me and Joe.  Mind my face, the hog had just swipe its chee sau (pork hand) on my face.  And trust me, the mascot really needs a shower.  It friggin stinks.  *checks for pimples* jkjk! ahah.  And later on it hugged Pauline.  Then Tony who sat in front of me said “Ham Chee Sau” which brought about a similar meaning to pervert.

After waiting for quite sometime our food finally arrived (when the restaurant was half-emptied).  But I was pleasantly surprised with the serving.  The steak had improved from burn to not burn and from a small cut to a larger one!

118

WenY’s Byron Bay Prime Chili Steak.  Removed the salad and replaced it with a double carb as my sides.  Added an extra Byron sauce for a dollar ninety-five.  The steak was well cooked and when I reached the middle.  OH GAWDDD.  There was this little slice which was so juicy @@. I find the steak to be well worth it $31 price tag although I would not come here anytime soon again. *check wallet only to find a hole*

119

This was Polly’s steak with calamari which she shared with Alethia.  Looks pretty good I must say.   It filled two girls up, I’m amazed ahah.  It cost them $36.

Later on as there weren’t enough cars, we took the bus home. But we stopped for awhile to hang around James St. to see some performances.  But I missed Van She because they took forever to finalise their setup.  Guess they were experiencing some technical glitches.  But before Van She, there were three very vocal girls took the stage and blew me of my feet.  I was impressed by their energy on stage. Prawnnnnnnnnnnn danceeeeeeeeeee.

Great night!

Bites: Wing Bo, Maylands

Went around a bit to get some food to fill up the stomach for dinner.  Snooped around the internet and I found Wing Bo to be quite famous among diners @ Maylands area.  So we decided to give it a try.  When we reached we were shocked to see the crowd being mostly Caucasians.  We’d though it’ll be you know, more Asians.  Nonetheless we decide to give it a go.  We waited for about 30 minutes before getting a place for 5.  The lady there was quite helpful but the staff did not look too friendly overall. Maybe they were just overloaded for the day, but Kelvin said they have no excuse being in the hospitality business.  But I must say they’re just students trying to make that extra buck.

The food we ordered are:

1

Seasonal Vegetable in Black Bean Sauce! I have always expected black bean sauce to taste like that, so I was fine but the fish would not consume those vegetable he claim lack salt! rwarrr! In fact they thought it was pricey, but it is ok @ $12 bucks.  Normal stir fry would cost $11 @ good fortune while kangkung belacan is $14 @ Tak Chee house.

2

Curry Prawn @ $19.  Reasonable cheaper than other places that would normally charge $22.  The taste was very well below my NORMAL standard.  Kinda failed.  Sister said they used the A1 packet but the lack of oil in the dish did not seem at all like A1 curry paste.

3

We also ordered Yam Duck which I found quite delish.  It’s hard to see much difference without proper attention.  But at closer inspection, the crust is not soaked in oil and had a nice flaky finish to it.  This duck came with a winner sauce.  Some places would give a sauce that was so diluted it was sad.  Other places gives barbecue sauce.  I kinda like as it is with tomato sauce.

IMG_4559

Our final dish was the Wing Bo Special Bean Curd.  This dish was fairly big and priced @ $13.50 it was quite cheap.  It was quite nice as well.  Reminds me of home when mom would deep fry Japanese Bean curd and top it with her onion-carrot-mince meat sauce which tasted lovely!

Overall I found this restaurant to fare pretty well.  But fish did not like it.  The internet ratings were pretty high and with 8 records to prove on its walls, how bad can it be?  Nonetheless the reviews given were a mixture of true and false.  For example, the serve is not as big as some diners claim it to be.  It was OK only.  What was true is the price.  With everything we ordered, the total bill came out to be roughly $15.6 per head.  Pretty decent.  Perhaps in the next try, it will be more suitable to try what people actually recommend!

Perth Royal Show: Smoke-Free

This is the time of the year again where Perth Kids get to sleep later than 9pm.  Like seriously, they always sleep at 9 =.=”!  The Royal Show seems to be a place I return every year without fail (so far at least!).  This year was no exception but I did not take too many pictures as the events were more or less the same ahah.  My pictures revolved mainly around guinea pigs which I so crazily rushed my friends through lunch to make sure I got to see my guinea pigs which were going to race @ 2.  But before the race there was some other competition which judged the cavies for beauty and posture.

1

Kids love their cavies!

5

Kids cheering on during the race!  Guinea pigs are better than the AFL I’d suppose.

3

A guinea pig and its master. This guy won the first round of the race! Although it barely finished the race! The other guinea pigs ran halfway and then they started running back because they thought their owners cheers are actually orders for them to come back ahaha!

There were other animals such as the emu which was at the exhibition.  The adult emu is freaking scary I tell you!  Take a look for yourself:

2

After that we sat around chilling and seeing man chopping wood! I know it sounds boring but it is not all that boring when you see a guy chopping only 30 chops after the first dude starts choppin and still wins.

6

A friendly message from the loggers!:

7

9Rides were abundant but I wasn’t gutsy enough to do any of them.  I think I’m old already @@!  I used to go on all the rides without considering the consequences.  Now I take a look at the ride and say nah! That thing might snap any moment or ohh the safety belts might just unlock and flyyyyyy awayyyyyyy I will go! @@  Vil and Yh say the Nitro which I sat last year.  The picture is on the left.  Vil said he almost passed out! Good man he is for pushing his fear for heights lol!

After the rides sister came and joined us for dinner there.  Had the ribs mmm! But some of the ribs were a bit overcooked so it was tough!  But it was OK overall! We sat around the large field and saw motocross which was absolutely aweeeesome!  Horse show followed soon after with the rodeos covered in neon tubes! Kickass!  After their rounds, they trotted along the arena perimeter and let the kids pat the horses! So nice of them ahah.  Lastly was the fireworks display which was very nice as well! The kids in front of me kept going on and on about “I luv it! I luv it”! Great night out for the kids in Perth I guess ahah.

Friday: Buddy Meet Up @ Ciao Italia :)

9

10

So busy for the past few days! Had so many assignments to hand in and so much other stuff to do as well! My blog has not been updated for like err?? 3 weeks? SO sad ahah. Not like my work load has decreased in any way but oh well at least most of them are half done or more than half done. After a busy week, Yobi asked me out for dinner at a place well known among Perth-lings for its ridiculous queue as well as pretty good Italian food. ahah The place is Ciao Italia located just at the very end of Mill Pt road in South Perth which I would regard as the most superb suburb in Perth ahahah. The foreshore is totally awesome and nice! Ok!! Enough about South Perth and more about my outing!  We were supposed to go and pick up Amanda along with Yobi at 6 but we were about 15 minutes late because we kinda got stuck in a jam earlier on when we went to a warehouse sale in Osborne Park. As a result we reached Ciao Italia only at 6.30p.m. Pretty early truth to be said. However the queue was not very kind to us. We waited outside for 1 and a half hours before they could make space for 5 people. I also met other friends from uni there haha. It’s pretty popular as I’ve said before.

11

This was us cramped in between a column and the side wall =.=!!  Wah I can see my chipmunk cheeks so clearly! Oh dammmmnnn!! We chit chatted for awhile and thank god our food did not take too long to reach! The long queue outside was probably due to the way some people eat!! While I waiting outside I saw this couple wtf. Eat pizza with fork and knife cut small piece one by one! YES VERY CONSIDERATE YEA? Bloody asians!! Hoho! An Asian calling another Asian! Truly Malaysian ~

The waiter told us that he would serve us the pizza first because the pasta chefs very overly busy with both the takeaway and the eat in orders so first up was the Calzone a.k.a the folded pizza! I first learnt what it was when I went to Michelangelo @ Pavilion with my parents and sister for “fine dining” couple years ago.

13

Calzone @ 20 bucks!

14

My slice of Calzone! The pizza was really big and could easily fill up 2 people! For 20 bucks that is a steal! Loved the tomato salad that came with it. It’s like eating a bruschetta without the bread haha. Slurps!

After the pizza came it was another 20 minutes wait for our pasta to arrive :D

5

The Fettucini Ciao Italia was the highlight of the night @ $25.50. The serving was pretty ok in my opinion. Something that can be shared with other food ordered.  Loved the cream sauce which reminds me of the Tagliatelle el Prosciutto from Il Padrino. Kelvin however though that the sauce at Il Padrino was nicer! Nonetheless, this pasta is a must try or must have if anyone goes there. Sun dried tomatoes, grilled chicken, chives and parsley in cream sauce! Yumm!

6

Also in the house was the Spaghetti Marinara @ $28.50! One of the most expensive Marinara’s around aha! This one had fish slices, prawns, mussels, and I think there was a scallop or two? I found the Marinara here pretty ok as it was not an overkill of seafood which would make me go “I can FEEL the SEA in my MOUTH”.  Fishman however commented that the prawn was not of sufficient quality :( EMOoooo! But oh well it was not frozen for sure hehe.

After eating all three of the main, the five of us were not full enough. Kinda expected once I saw the pasta size hehe. But it was ok, the night was not to end just yet. One of the highlights at Ciao Italia frequenters mention often is the Tiramisu dessert @ $8.50 each. And because we were still hungry we each ordered ONE!

7

I’m not sure how most of you would comment on the size of the cake but if you think it’s pretty small then I’m sorry that my picture is a misrepresentation but HELL! SERIOUSLY it was LARGE, definitely enough for 2-3 ppl. I had a quarter left after downing as much as I could! But I must insist that I enjoyed the Tiramisu! Looks so pretty! Amanda was so funny! She said she did not like the cream and started spooning the Mascarpone cheese away. Yobi the told her that she should just eat sponge cake or something I think HAhahahaah.

Great outing, manage to  catch up with my friends! Should do it more when holidays comes! The food in Ciao Italia is something to shout about if it was not for the wait. Since it’s my first time here I guess, without taking the horrendous queue into consideration, the food here is quite nice. Perhaps next time we’ll drop by at 5.30 for early dinner :)!

That’s all for now! Need to go comb my sister’s dog’s hair! Her pup is under my care because she went back to M’sia for holidays!

Weekends!: Passion on Ice and Dim Sum

Today’s class was pretty good until the lunch time at taka where I gave the Miso Katsu a second try as I had forgotten how it tasted. OMG it sucked. It’s also one of the rare events that you see Edwin not finishing his meal @.@ Polly on the other hand had a bowl of rice topped with raw tuna @.@! But oh well, she’s good with it. Vil and Cherry both had Kaarage in which they both could not finish as well. Hmm did the serving become larger? :S

1

On Friday I went to ice skating with Pauline, courtesy of Polly’s invitation and her friends. It was pretty fun but I came back with a blister which hurts like hell after I puncture my skin to get the fluid out. Nonetheless I enjoyed it a great deal, met loads of girls AND GUYS. Decent people and easy to mix with.

5369_222561930011_706340011_7831221_4839241_n

Polly and I. The place was pretty dark man. The had laser lights flashing everywhere. Add some alcohol and it’ll be clubbing on ice! Plus oh I got knocked down by some Caucasian dude 2 heads taller than me. It was then that I knew flying is not fun when you know you’re going to have a landing. My ass hurts, my arm hurts @.@! It’s 4 days now ahah. Oh well. After skating we were famished on with proper emphasis, Polly was famished!

3

Yi Heng a.k.a the fishman!

We went to Northbridge Hawkers for supper and had quite a meal there! Yumm! The kampung vegetable fried with plenty of dried shrimps was the star of the night. Really good for a vegetable dish!  Now comes EPIC STORY! On the way home, Yi Heng got a police story to tell.  Fish approaches a routine police check for drunk driving. He scrolls down his windows, exchanges greeting with officer before giving his first puff at the breathalyzer. FAILLLL.Try 2 also FAILLL. Try 3, okla settle! But that’s not the biggie!

Police: Hi, can I see your driving license please.

Fish: I don’t have a driving license (said very calmly)

Police: (Give the ohh okkk, WTF? look) Luckily he did not electrocute Fish’s Arse! And he goes on to call a senior officer) and the rest is unimportant. lol! Nice one man.

Had a good rest and hmm what happened on Saturday I cannot recall anything happening at all :S Maybe grocery hmm yes yes grocery @ Subiaco.  THE END =.=

On Sunday I met up with my sister at Dim Sum. We’ve been going to our usual place at  Golden Century! Pauline was the camera lady for the day since she’s got her new semi-pro lumix which looks pretty damn sleek!

8

Pan Fried dumplings!

9

10

The salt and pepper spicy squid. For once it was salty enough ahah. It is normally quite tasteless unfortunately. But it is still nice! We had soo much to eat and the pictures above are like 15% of the bill xD. We just got too lazy to snap anymore pictures so we decided to enjoy our meal instead!

1 Later on in the evening we had our usual tennis session where sister played with the rest of the housemates while I became the ball boy as the blister on my right foot + aches around my ass was not permitting in any sense. After tennis everyone looked slightly tired I guess? Or was it “very tired” thanks to the unfit winter. Sister dined with us and had to go home asap to take care of her daughter, the little Bibi! After dinner Polly was still hungry so we decided to call an old friend out for a cuppa @ Tiamo. Catch up with Daniel about his holidays as he becomes totally MIA during the semester.  It’s now or never!!  He seemed like he had a really good holidays back home @ Singapore!! Good for him!!

I guess that was how I finished my weekend! Pretty sad huh? Oh well! It’s Perth but hohoho!! There is going to be a pretty cool shopping mall in the city I think. The construction works are at the 16th floor atm. Hope it goes all the way to 50 xD. Even then it’s going to be offices mainly I think?

Saturday Night: Over Eaten @ Moon!

To celebrate the dreaded start of university, we had a Saturday event that lasted till the wee hours of the morning! We had dinner yummy dinner @ Good Fortune where price meets quality! But the sizzling beef felt miserable with the amount of meat they gave! Super EMO! Nonetheless the amount of food I consumed was just nice! After that we did decided to chill out @ Moon Cafe. The waiter and waitresses there looked so retro and cool all the time! Yummy!!

Although all I really wanted to do was just sit there and consume nothing, but that seemed impossible as they would chase me out! So well we ordered some stuff to snack on!

 1

2

3

After that we headed to Il Gelato where fishman had durian ice cream ahah! He seems to enjoy it a lot. And out of a sudden, the furious rain of Perth broke through the roof of the shop making it flood lol! We finished up whatever we ordered and left the humble Italian shop. We then went to sing karaoke at Utopia! I realized that I like to listen to people sing and not sing myself HAHAHA! But oh well, it was worth the money ^^!

 4

My family picture when parents came over during the holidays!! hohoho my hair!! Oh well, at least I’ve got it cut already!

Oh noess!! Tomorrow university class again buhuhuuhu!!  Super crappy!!
