Same Italian: Friend from over the seas.

I’ve been having quite a fair bit of company recently, mommy and daddy came over a a fortnight ago and they’ve been going around Perth with me a fair bit. And just a couple of days ago Rosanne and Yobi was here to keep me company hoho. Ok that was not the real reason ahah. Roz was here with her parents for a holiday after a tiring semester like all other semesters ahah. Yobi on the other hand will be here for a year to finish his final year of studies at Curtin.  Since they’re here I decided to treat them to something and since they were not up for anything Malaysian, not Korean and Japanese for Yobi too, so I decided to bring them to Il Padrino. I’ve been here twice this week but I do not feel bored yet haha.

We were pretty much supposed to meet in the city at 1 o’clock but some fat ass took the wrong bus and ended up 1 and a half hours late! Damn gay hihi. Rosanne and I walked all over Perth for that 1 hour buhuhu. She seems to enjoy Woolies a whole lot ahha. I also brought her thru to Murray St., Hay St., St Georges terrace, Kings St. and London court. Typical places to bring a person I guess? So saddening :( Perth CBD only had those streets! Nonetheless London Court left her with a good impression.

P1000136

YoBi and Rosanne lol.

P1000133

Rosanne at the arc which count would increase if someone passes under it!

lols the gif maker messer this resolution all the time omg!

We reached Il Padrino just in time for lunch as we were close to very hungry.  Nana served us very promptly as usual asking us Pizza or Pasta. Seems like a trick question because I gotta feeling that if I actually answered Pasta I will not get served HAhaha. Coz we went into the shop 5 minutes before closing time thanks to YoBi!! Fortunately Pizza was the right answer and I ordered what I had 2 days ago. Il Padrino Pizza and the Chicken Pizza. Aahah not sure how highly or lowly did they thought of it but poor Rosanne. She was on fire after a bite of Il Padrino pizza because they had chilli flakes on it. Did not know she cannot eat spicy food, but when I come to think of it, she eats dim sum with the tim cheong(sweet sauce) instead of the chilli sauce!

PS: Nana is not really her name but I just got the impression of calling the lady co-boss that name there. True enough on the internet, Nana means grandma eehheh.

Later that night we had dinner at Bintang before going for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince at Carousel. The movie was hell crap :S. I enjoyed this movie the least out of all the Harry Potter series! Not to mention we sat in the FIRST ROW! KIASU OR NOT? @.@

Birthdays!: Yvonne’s Italian 26th

Yvonne grew another year younger yesterday, so we decided to have a small birthday dinner for her. So hardd to plan hehe! Need to know what cake to buy, where to eat, what time is a good time etc etc.! Some more Yobi claims it is so easy to plan@@.  Oh well, after much consideration I thought we’d go to Mario for his pizzas and pastas once again! OK, he’s not really quite the Mario in Smash Bros but he’s got the nose and face I’d say.

IMG_4243

Can you spot him? lol I believe you all can. He’s the one at the far left!

He is really good at making his pizzas! The crust might be burn a little at times but they feel very light and not too doughy or chewy. We ordered two large ones to share amongst ourselves!

IMG_4257

Pizza il Padrino, the house specialty. Very tasty! The prosciutto  is very flavourful.

IMG_4258

This was il Padrino’s Chicken Pizza, the taste was very good.. but! butttt!! After eating the first pizza which was the saltier one, the Chicken pizza felt a little lack of salt.

I was quite filled up by the time the 6 of us finished the pizza but there was more to fill us up! Pastas here are good in my opinion. However some of the pasta lack flavour. But I remember watching Jamie Oliver’s cooking show where he went to Italy to make pasta. His first try was a failure because the Italians described him as too complicated. Too much meat, flavouring etc etc. So I think if you are craving for some authenticity, then this must be it!

IMG_4251

Passion for pasta! That is Nuzzino, the man I call Mario! The picture is really grainy because I was sitting 3 tables away ahah. But oh well, the words are pretty clear!

IMG_4260

This was the Tagliatelli which Yh and I ordered one each. Liked the sauce a lot. Really good! Added Parmesan to make it even cheesier! Mouse Approved :)

IMG_4263

Yvonne and Sister ordered a Bolognaise each! Does not taste as tasty as it looks apparently :(

IMG_4266

Kelvin’s Carbonara! Weird thing he ordered this ahaha. I was expecting him to order something tomato base as he has lots of this every week when he goes to work in Hot Box! He said it did not fare as well as the one at Tiamo! But being kind as usual, he says it taste ok.

After eating all the noodles, we were loaded to the brim. Tip us over a little and we might drip? Leak? lol. But we were not done there yet! We finished off with the cake we bought from Corica’s for Yvonne! A blueberry cheesecake! hehehe

IMG_4270

This is birthday girl, her mouth was painful because she took out 4 of her tooth because she wants to do braces.

IMG_4272

She’s so funny clapping to her own birthday cake. Not to mention she pays more attention to the sparkler than the camera @@

And finally the picture of the birthday girl in sequence. Something I decided to do randomly. But oh the picture qualities were totally ruined! The website that did this for me did not allow me to full the full resolution pictures unfortunately!

Thai Thai: Meet ups!

It’s been raining cats and dogs for the past few days. All sporting events have been cancelled. And I’ve been spending most of my time at home looking at random things online. Oh noes! So boring!! Oh well, at least today was different ahah. Today went to cook lunch in our secret hideout hoho! After that I met up with Manda and Jasmine for tea @ Tiamo. It’s been ages since I met them so we had a lot of catching up to do! Chit chat for awhile at the cafe before heading back to my place and continued chit chatting away ahah. From our conversation, I was educated by Jasmine about the BIG and DANGEROUS “25” years old for GIRLS hoho. But I’m convinced that they need not worry. rwarrr!!

After talking loads of craps and other stuff, we headed over to NB for dinner after waking the fish from his sleep. I introduced to them a Thai Restaurant which I think might have killed them because the Green Curry had the spiciness of the birds eye chilli even though it was called “mild”. Nonetheless fish and I whom had dine here a couple of times already, enjoyed ourselves.

IMG_4196

Yiheng’s  spicy mince pork with basil leaves and steamed rice.

IMG_4197

My Thai salad with minced meat also known as Larb was an overdose with onions. I had to scoop some onions away ahah. But I still enjoyed the meaty salad!

IMG_4199

Lynn’s Pad Thai loaded with Prawns. I’ve had this before and I liked it. It definitely beats the “award” winning Pad Thai at Baiyoke Tower, Bangkok!

IMG_4202

This was Jasmine’s pick, the Thai green curry with Spaghetti ahah. Her face turned RED after having it but I felt it tasted ok ahha. Amanda had something similar but instead of noodles, she opted for rice.

IMG_4188

A picture together hoho. Not quite clear but oh well, too lazy to set over and over ahah :D

The end of my day!!

Weekend Brunch: Tiamo Cafe

Rwarr! Just woke up from my afternoon nap! SO tired! I slept for 4 hours the night before and last night I had about 7 hours of sleep. I feel that I need to have breakfast every morning if not my stomach will not feel well and that wakes me up before 9 almost everyday!! Last night we went to Burswood Casino where Liz and Pauline lost 20 bucks each. Fishman lost 10. High roller we’re not! All I gambled was a dollar ehehe. I also had a family dinner last night at my Tai Pak’s house. The gathering was pretty large with relatives from Sydney and Singapore here to visit us.

This morning after my breakfast of noodles and egg, my sister dropped by my house at about 10 with Bibi. The so very naughty dog. Still so white, long and playful ahah. She had just visited my aunty from Sydney that was living with my other aunt in Mosman Park. When she reached she was happily running around the house she lived in when my sister left her with us earlier this year for a week or two before heading to Bangkok. She woke Polly and fishman up. Kelvin join the awakened after awhile. When everyone woke up we headed just outside the house for lunch at Tiamo:

Kelvin!

IMG_4150

Kelvin and Polly both ordered  Foccacia with Chicken Strips:

IMG_4170

Polly complained tat there was too much bread for its own good. Kelvin seemed fine although he added heaps of aoli to the thing.

Sister’s Penne Mafiosa done with Spaghetti instead!

IMG_4171

Looks delicious as usual but unfortunately this time around, it was not salty enough.

This was Yi Heng’s Carbonara!

IMG_4178

Should be good. Everyone that has eaten this found it well suited to their taste buds.

And lastly, my BLT with chips! It was yummy, filled with plenty of bacon and tomatoes along with lettuce. Its a healthy option for a carnivore like me who would not have the salad if it came as a side with the sandwich. The bread was thin but because I had breakfast earlier, I was still too full!

IMG_4180

Before we had our meals, we made up our minds to have ice choc and sort for dessert. But once we were done with the food. Ours plans were demolished because we were too full to fit anything else in! Been here twice this week. The food is pretty good here although the pasta can sometimes be too soft.

Tonight tonight hmmm what’s happening tonight? Dung knowwwww! TERMINATORRRRRRR

The start of a new end: Finito

My morning started cold and early at about 6.45-ish. Had a cup of warm water as I prepared for my final journey for the semester. Flipped through the notes as I always do, looking for the notes where I’d put the formulas I needed. Left the house around 8.20 and grouped with the other peeps outside the venue where I saw a baby peacock and it’s mom walking around the courtyard! So cute ahah. Exam was ok although I really did not like this unit. Worst unit ever. Did a few excusable mistakes here and there but oh well :P I’m glad its over now.

MODIMG_4123

After the exam we had  lunch @ Toraya a Japanese Restaurant promoted on the Food Pornographer’s Blog which I follow every off and on! Toraya is located in Subiaco just around the corner of Woolworths Subiaco.  I’'ve been around that corner a thousand times since I came to Perth but I’ve never set foot into that restaurant before until just recently!

              IMG_4117

A little decoration @ Toraya and that is my housemate Kelvin. He looks very Japanese in the picture as he waits for his food :D

MODIMG_4126

I think I’ve gotten fish and Kelvin hooked to the dish recommended. Karage Donburi with Spicy Mayo started my taste buds for the day. Very nicely done.

MODIMG_4125Their Miso soup which is included with the donburi set was easily one of the best Miso soups around. Some might find it too salty but I oh’ just loved it! No stinginess on the paste! Kelvin commented it to be very flavourful when we firs tried it!And damnnn!! At the end of our previous meal here, Kelvin and Fishman says this place pass the taste test. Splendid suggestion from the Food Pornographer!! Wots happening to night? Its HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!!

Perth’s Mario!: Nuzzino’s il Padrino Caffe!

Yesterday night we have dinner together with my sister and William at Northbridge. Pondering on what to have, Pauline finally decided that we have pizza for dinner. We were not sure what where to eat, so I spontaneously suggested the place where I had my first slice of Pizza in Australia, the il Padrino Caffe just opposite Kakulas Bros which sells spices. This place serves really nice food! Well, with the exception of the Marinara Spaghetti which was an onslaught of seafood @.@. Yh loved it though. The last time I came here was easily 7 years ago.

Forget Caesar’s Pizza in Mundaring and all the hype on it’s pizzas appearing on Iron Chef! Make way for the best Pizza in the world:

nunz_bestpiz

This is no joke peeps! Although the owner Nuzzino looks like real life old skool Mario! The food was nice! Damn!! If only I had brought my camera yesterday night! I loved the Tortellini Panna e Prosciutto! Oh the so awesome texture of the Prosciutto on top of the pizza! I find the serving at il Padrino enough for me but for the rest, the serving felt a little small ahah.

At the end of the meal we paid 150 for 2 pizza, 4 pastas and 3 serves of Tiramisu! The elderly waitress, his wife I believe was very nice to serve us large slices of tiramisu with ice cream. Both which are homemade of course!! But Polly says that the Tiramisu @ South Perth is larger! And for some reason, everyone calls me Aunty Killer. Not that I kill them but they’re normally very nice to me. Good Fortune, Il Padrino, Fruit Grocer and even Joy Cafe today!

N DAMNNN finals started today with structural analysis! So much to write so little time! Lets see what happens next for hydraulics! Time to nerd!!

Bites: Ipoh Garden @ Applecross

A slow day it was today. I woke up around 9 and started rolling on my bed until I could no longer take it and had to wake up! I really admire people who can sleep till half the day is gone ahah. I remember doing so only when I was so drained after scouts recruit camp almost a couple years back.  When I got up Polly was already up washing previous night’s dessert dishes lol. So nice of her ahah. I had my own brekkie of fried egg on toast while she had cereal. After that I started reading news before studying a little bit.

And then woooohoooo! Kelvin cooked lunch. He made sizzling bean curd which tasted very nice and even better than those we’d find in Chinese Restaurants. Not to mention the one in restaurants are so freaking stingy! They would only give you max 2 tubes of Jap bean curd! Emoo! After that I started to read more Hydraulics which seems pretty easy on the notes but when I peeked at the  questions just now… Jesus! @.@! They even tested AS1170 which concerns wind profiles. Sien.  No wonder Edwin said it is not relevant to our syllabus!

Today I met up with my sister for dinner hehe. Shao Feng, Fishman, Kelvin and I had dinner with her @ Ipoh Garden. I’ve heard so much about this place and I knew I’ve definitely got to try it! This is what we ordered! :

MODIMG_4086
Feng’s Beef Rendang. He said it was ok but he preferred the Nyonya version @ Bibik Chan. This one costs $10!

MODIMG_4091
This was Kelvin’s Ipoh Fried Hor Fun which he said was not salty enough but tasted not too bad. Looks really filling though. The plate was humungous @ $10!

MODIMG_4092
And the picture above me is the fabled Inchikiban chicken which is supposed to be an in-house specialty! It was pretty nice I have to say. Glad I did not have to do the frying. I never liked frying chicken! It is so messy and I often get disappointed when the inside is still raw while the outside looks so overcooked! Also I think I’ve cracked the Ipoh code in the special sauce that came with it! Mustard + BBQ sauce lol. The serving was decent @ $15!

MODIMG_4094
Fishman, my sister and I ordered the Ipoh Hor Fun soup. Which hmm tasted not too bad but when compared to all those that I’ve eaten in KL, lol. Better not compare ahah. It costs $9.90 each bowl.

MODIMG_4098
Lastly are the ice creams we ordered! Durian flavoured ones. It was quite nice but I found the texture not consistent. Shao Feng’s one was somewhat creamier than my sisters :S! These cost 5 bucks a tub!

After that we chit chatted awhile and tadaaaa I stole a few dockets which entitles me to free whopper on each whopper purchase. As well as Big Macs and  1/4 chickens @ Nando’s! Slurpss!! Fat Fat! hehehe!

Also, my friend Jian Hung asked me a little something today and my response came from a song:

“..Me and a couple of old school friends
We're going out to drink
You can come along but leave your girl at home
It'll give you time to think

But you called at the last minute
Said that you were staying in
Well this is not a joke old friend
I'm a-getting sick of this

Oh remember me when she leaves you
And you come and knock on my door
Well I can nurse your broken heart
Cause that's what friends are for..”

Saturday Night: Make It With You

After a hearty meal with the housemates @ a Thai restaurant which I’ve frequented 3 times in the past 2 weeks, we came home feeling hungry. Or ok, not “we” just Pauline. So she decided that we make use of the flour we bought.

IMG_4065

LOL! As you can see, there are balls in yellow water which in this case is Pandan syrup! We actually made Tong Yuen @.@! Weird but true, they taste pretty damn good despite its odd shape! The bigger balls had fillings in them while the smaller ones are just plain flour!

IMG_4058

These were the two fillings used to stuff the glutinous rice balls. Nutino is my new Chocolate sidekick when I eat bread. I prefer this one more compared to the Australian made Nutella. Nutino comes from Italy by the way and it is cheaper @.@! The crunchy peanut butter was something we bought extra sometime ago!  Kelvin, Polly and I felt that the Peanut Butter one tasted nicer!

Our dessert session did not just end with the Glutinous Rice Ball, we also had Prata filled with Red Bean paste which we bought from the oriental shop in NorthBridge. Fatttt

IMG_4055

Ohhh so fat @.@! The winter disease strikes again!

Autumn!: Rain rain rain rain!

Today I woke up in the morning only to find my shirt far away from the place I hanged it! The wind is totally insane if you’d ask me! The wind blew a few of my shirts to the patch of dirt prompting me to wash them! Suckaaa! Oh well, at least we’re not flooding like NSW. Also, the maple trees in the UWA has shed most of its leaves giving the campus a lovely autumn feel! But oh the rain made me wet @.@! Walking to class took us like 10minutes, and class lasted for only 20 minutes @.@!!

IMG_4038

Mmmmm.. Oh yea and we’ve been having tong sui every alternate day or so. We had peanut tong yuen as well as red bean flavoured ones! Quite yummy with Pandan syrup! Also we bought Green Tea Mochi! Slurpps slurrps!

IMG_4044

Polly took this picture and then she complained about Yi Heng’s hand being dry lol.

Edwin’s birthday is tomorrow, got him a present from Myers just now! Hopefully he liked it! Hope he wears it too! La la la la! After buying the present I had dinner with the White House peeps, Vil and Henry at Regal on Roe! The Singapore Style Chilli King Prawns was pretty nice although the word “King” only complements the price, not the size :(! Henry loved the Mayonnaise Peking Style Ribs even though Vil was not too sure about entire "mayonnaise with meat” issue ahah.

Oh and damn faggot! Someone threw a rock at me when I was walking in city! Dammn!!!!!! Luckily my trusty A&F jumper was thick enough to bolster the impact! Wootz!

OOo and I’ve been listening to another old song called Guilty by Blue. I think they’ve disbanded already but oh well.

“If it's wrong to tell the truth
Then what am I supposed to do
When all I want to do is speak my mind
If it's wrong to do what's right
I'm prepared to testify..”

Shape Shift: House Moving!

Rwarr!! Just had a test yesterday. I felt I did it much better than the second one which was horrendous! The class averaged at a fail @.@ So soweee for neglecting this blog hoho! The last post was like three? two weeks ago :(! But I think it will be abandoned even more because the exams are coming! About 15 days on the countdown clock! Nothing much has been happening except for the fact that Pauline has entirely moved all her things into the house. And also the White House has gone wireless allowing us to have a wireless corridor. But oh my god! The internet is really slow! Might have to change my provider to something more ownage like 24Mbps IInet :D

IMG_4034

Yesterday we did not cook dinner after the test because we did not bring the meat out of the freezer! We picked up Amanda and had dinner @ Vic park hoho! Had Bintang’s Nasi Goreng Special but it was on the wet side! A bit sucky but yehhh I ate it still. After that I packed a Domino Pizza for breakfast! ahah! Also, we helped Polly moved all her stuff from her new place to the old one. Saw Yoko, Yukari 1 , Yukari 2, Teru and Paticia. Her house so damn awesome. So multicultural! We had a party there a fortnight ago! And Wow! All Korean, Jap, Brazilians and Chinese. So much alcohol, almost made me die! And aaa Soju killed me in half a shot! Not to mention, the lack of food in this so called pot-luck party did not make the alcohol any easier! Do not do alcohol if you are on empty tank! Its sickening! Then I find the Koreans so crazy! Keep on want to hug people! Crazy Joo and Jaewoo.

Polly!! I want picturess! Picturess!!!

Also, I watched Dragon Ball Evolution yesterday and found it saddening. It was pretty damn lame @.@! After that I also watched Fast and Furious 4 which is tonnes better than Dragon Ball!

IMG_4026

Polly’s Patrick in her room. We furnished her room Ikea style and its a real looker now. Very well furnished ahah. But her tidiness is another matter @.@ My daughter Polly is soooo untidy. And I thought I was bad *hoho*

Till then, adios~!

4th Dimension transition: Mondays!

For once we thought we’d be super good and attend all the classes on Monday. We were hoping for a new hydraulics lecturer but to our disbelief, Tong Ming was still the lecturer. I looked around the class and the atmosphere was filled with gloom. More than half the class was falling asleep. The classed sucked in conclusion :P Even I was going @.@ (insane) looking at him teach in his own world.

On the other hand I was quite free yesterday. Stayed at home the whole day doing my stuff. And waited till evening to play tennis. Hoho! After that Yi heng became super chef and cooked fried vermicelli with the canned pork slices! So yummy!! But I was the one to teach him the recipe hoho! And also, Pauline had a caffeine overdose during the noon so she was super high the entire day (not to mention super nice). At night she decided to make some pear and plum toppings for the ice cream we bought . Yumm~

IMG_4004

The dessert she prepared for us! Not the most presentable one I’d suppose but it is one of the finer tasting ones I’ve eaten. The toppings would beat Mecca’s Strawberry Sundae any day~ Not too sweet and easy to consume!

Today’s Wednesday, Thursday is just round the corner and then Friday and hoho! Weekends!

Oh one last thing to say, it is more a complain actually. The weather is being a bitch. It is freakin 27 degrees today! Yesterday it was 29 !! Dang!

1000miles: Third day! To and back!

]Ajaajajajaja! The past few days have been terribly cruel to my life. Study study study and exam! Damn steel exam! So freaking hard. So saddening! Haih! Nonetheless we shall skip all the sad things and move on to the last day of my trip down south! On the last day we woke up  at Kingsley Motel in Majinmup  which was in a rather remote area! One thing was for sure, we were all super hungry. So we drove around until we reached our first eatery called Lavender and Berry farm! We had our breakfast there:

IMG_3878

Ham and Cheese sandwich! Feng’s

IMG_3880

Yvonne and her award winning blueberry sauce and pancake with Vanilla ice cream! All of us ordered the same thing for breakfast hehe. But instead of ordering one, we ordered a quarter and a hot drink. And believe it or not, the quarter filled me up!

IMG_3858

This is Polly! YiHeng and Kelvin says the picture does not look too right ahah. They say Pauline does not look so sweet @.@! But okla she always smile to me so looks normal!

IMG_3875

Shao Feng and Yvonne! Just look at em!! Breakfast do wonders!!

After breakfast we decided to walk to the backyard of the farm. They had an anti-social pony! Some dumb ducks, and a lame bunch of chicken! Buhuhu! But it is ok, we decided to take more pictures! Pauline demanded this:

IMG_3883

Damnnnn! And wth why Yi Heng so tall in this picture!! And as you can see, Yi Heng is hiding his fats! hoho!

IMG_3903

The farm was a pretty place. What a shame that it is being sold off. Saw the big signboard saying that it was for sale. About 2 million dollars if I remember correctly! After that we headed to the super tall tree in hmmm Pemberton? hoho! I cannot remember already!

IMG_3927

If you’re daring enough you probably would not mind climbing up 50 metres or was it 70 metres high on a ladder :D I climbed up once before so I did not do it again hoho! Also I did not have proper footwear to begin with, so they said no :(

That was our last attraction down south! After climbing the tree, we headed back towards Perth making a few stops. None was particularly interesting except Busselton! We had our meal at a restaurant which was quite expensive! Fortunately we did not want to eat much, so we shared our meals since it was already 4 o’clock!

IMG_3954

Some random pasta of the day! Fettuccini  with chicken, err parmesan, sun dried tomatoes? I guess it was pesto pasta.

After a light meal, we went to the Busselton jetty to take pictures and enjoy the beach one last time before we headed home for dinner! Great trip down South. Felt very enjoyable despite the short period of time we were there. Would be great if we could just settle down and chill the day instead of jumping from one place to another though! But I cannot blame the schedule. After all we had so many places to visit in so little time. Did not cost too much too! 250 bucks for boarding, food, souvenirs, petrol as well as car rental! Great value there!

Time to get back to reality now! Emooooooooooo!!

Why is it that my effort did not pay off!?

“..we will prevail someday, if we will endure, and if

we are not afraid of failure..”

Time to plan a counter attack!
