Filling in the Gap: The best combination.

39 degrees.  That is the weather in Western Australia at the moment.  Tomorrow, we might see it peak at 40 maybe?  Me and heat, that is a cursed combination.  Yesterday, XL and I went to Carousel to catch the new Harry Potter movie.  While I’m not the biggest Potter fan on screen, the new movie impresses when compared to its predecessor.  Lunch time was kept simple, McDonalds for the win.  A nice large value meal with cold drinks to quench my thirst!

IMG_0203

McDonalds.  The great combination a.k.a McChicken McValueMeal

I have always thought of the McValue meal at Meccas as great value.  Awesome combination that fills me up to the brim with added satisfaction in the process.  One of the best things about McD is the apparent consistency that is present now matter how far apart the restaurants are.  The one in Australia pretty much tastes the same like the one in KL, so does the branch in Hong Kong.  It is pretty damn wicked, sick is it not?  This makes some restaurants pretty damn shit.  Same restaurant, same chef, same food, different day, different taste.  This especially applies to all the Malay and Indian restaurants back home in KL.  But I guess this consistency comes with all the hype and experiments regarding how long can the food last before rotting.  But truth be said, no one cares.

Ok enough ranting about McDonalds.  After the Potter movie, all of us, including the guys that have finished exam headed for a swim down at the Victoria Park AquaLife centre.  5 bucks rip off!!  Did not really enjoy the swim there.  After the swim, it was dinner time.  A bunch of overjoyed engineers and steamboat was on the schedule.  But the weather killed us all.  Despite buying just enough food, I was full even though I did not eat much.  It was so saddening.  Sitting at the table, I saw all the balls floating around the broth.  This again was all thanks to the stupid weather.  Summer and steamboat, officially the worst combination EVER.  Ok enough complaints.

Off to bed I go.  Time to enjoy the comfort of an antique air conditioning systems.

Bites: Atomic @ Mends Street, South Perth.

It has been ages, since I last had a cuppa.  The usual places would be Tiamo @ Nedlands or Dome  @ anywhere.  Or perhaps, after dinner over coffee talk.  Just yesterday, the little darling and I decided to head over to South Perth for a drink before coming back home.  Dome would have been an automated choice, but something different would be good aye?  Yea? Yea?  Haha!!  But this time around, we decided to go to Atomic Cafe @ Mends street.  It is just opposite Dome.  The drinks there tasted OK.  Xin Ling had an orange juice.  Sugar free, 100% orange.  This and that but jeez.  It was sour.  Upon tasting it my hair spiked & balls dropped.  But it is ok, girls have their reasons for enjoying the acidity I’d reckon?

But for me, I will do it the kids way..

With the mercury topping temperatures this spring paired with a century-long heat record broken, this remedy was divine.  But sadly, I’m not Aussie enough to appreciate the finesse in a barrister’s effort.  Froth.  I enjoy a thick layer of froth though :D!  Does that count?

Filling in the Gap: My Lady Luck!

Most people know my stories.  From the outside, it is pictured like a grasshopper, but inside, its really just incompatibility.  But when you find your very own charmer, it does not need a second thought.  It is simply just too obvious.  The riddles are self-explanatory and it all comes together.  The busy year slipped through like a breeze despite the entanglements involved.

The no. 88 is a simple Chinese representation of prosperity.  Depicted above is mine.  But there are a few other ladies in my life.  My mom, sister, grandmother and a few others.  I must really thank them for all the ease and encouragement they have brought to my live.  For some, their presence alone makes a difference.

Filling in the Gap: Exams?.. Over?

It is funny that I’m blogging about examination period coming to an end for me. This is so considering the time that has passed since the engaging period of my 4th year came to an end.  But there is a certain difference when you finish exam alone, and, when your partner  or friends finishes with you. Alone its funny.  They study while you spend the whole day killing aliens or invading Vietnam.  But since Xin Ling finished her exam two days ago, CR today and the rest of the mates on Thursday or so, this calls for a celebration ey>? Haha!!! A little bit on the premature side but after I went to pick up a cake for the little darling after brunch at a new dim sum restaurant.

Bites: Deevine @ Victoria Park.

The peeps are still very busy with their exams.  Xin Ling is still on her 3 till 4 routine every night.  The guys, still busy, but that has not dampen their spirits for Starcraft.  Never a day without their daily dose of computer games haha.  I on the other hand, have finished the new Call of Duty: Black Ops game :D!  After finishing the game, I headed over to my sister’s house.  Could not decide where to go for dinner.  Therefore, instead of going to the same place all the time, I suggested that we try somewhere new.  A restaurant from the Entertainment book.  We ended up choosing a place called Deevine Cafe near the Ford Dealer on Albany Highway.  The place was simple in decoration.  Very neat, with a simple outcome and a clean feel to it.  But that did not matter to me.  My brains were not functioning.  Felt as if everything were moving too slow.  Must have been the hardcore speed of the games I have played!!  After flipping through the pages front and back, analysing top to bottom, I went for the Crumbled Veal with Aglio Olio pasta and creamy prawns. (Sorry for the picture, they are IPhone material!)

IMG_0192
My dinner for the night.  Loved the crumbled veal, hated the Aglio Olio.  It was super dry to begin with.  The Aglio Olio was cooked with sausages and finely cut chilli, but it did not feel so.  It felt as though the taste was separated into many different parts.  Chilli.  Sausages.  And no Aglio Olio.  No garlicky taste or oil coating.  Totally dry!! :( !!  That is really saddening!  Nonetheless, the slices of crumbled veal was lovely.  Thin, and yummy.  The creamy garlic sauce from the prawns was super delicious too!  I would recommend this dish if the pasta was not so dry.  And mind you, this pasta is half of what the plate is.  If it is not even half edible, then its a situation!! :P!!

My sister on the other hand, opted for the scotch fillet on a bed of mash!
IMG_0194
A slab of hearty steak.   The way my sister like it is Medium Rare.  She has increased her tolerance towards raw meat I guess @.@!  My preference is still medium ahaha.  I tried a slice of her steak and thought that it was like all other steak.  Not the best neither is it the worst but there was nothing to shout about.  It was a slice of steak well cooked.  If the sauce had more taste, it would be lovely!  Kevin had the Penne Bolognaise and he said it was OK only ahah.  Oh and the most epic thing was the appetizer, which was the garlic bread.
IMG_0190
The garlic bread was so god damn freaking FLAT… and HARD.  Edible but should have been LOADS better.  I honestly thing someone accidentally flattened the sandwich maker or something. FAIL.

By the way, notice the issue with the picture?   That’s the problem I have with the IPhone at the moment. The middle turns out blue-ish while the sides are just covered with warmth.  WTH is happening?!!!

This will be all for now.  Looking forward to the Albany trip in a weeks time :)!

Bites: Bateman Chinese Malaysian Cuisine @ Bateman

Since coming to Australia, the only fish dishes I have eaten is fish and chips or fish balls.  Sometimes “Ikan Bakar” when we go to the Malaysian hawker.  But yesterday, I rekindled a familiar taste that I had 4 years ago when I came to Perth.  My sister brought Yi Heng (a.k.a fish man) and I to Bateman for some yummy-licious fish head noodle-soup.  This time around, I went to the same place, but with Cr and fish man.  Our tummies were rumbling from all the “computer exercise” we have been doing after the hardcore Environmental Geology and Geomechanics exams!

Bateman Chinese Malaysian Cuisine was seriously crowded when we got there at about 8.  I saw Kong’s Oriental Shop owner eating there with his family.  Both his wife and him gave me a smile. (I guess I am remembered?)  The hype about this place is the fried fish head that is served with the noodles that comes in either curry or preserved vegetable soup.  These yummy fried fishes were so crispy that I had no problem eating it like potato chips dipping them in cut chilli soy sauce!!!  No foul stench or anything.  I think they used snapper head, which I am fine with.  Ok I’m too sleepy to type too much.  I am actually next to the little darling in the wee hours of the morning to see her do the same revision for the zillionth time.  SO here comes the pictures:
IMG_7514
Oh yeah! Super crisp and tasty fish head.  This was 1 serve which is pretty damn big.  And for this, fish man chose to go with a curry base noodle soup!

IMG_7517
This was the noodles that CR had.  It had plenty of fish balls and sliced chicken.  A plus point about this was the ridiculous amount you get for your buck.  It was So goddamn big!  Fish man’s bowl of noodles looked similar but there was not any fish balls but 4 massive chunks of fish head which I happily stole Open-mouthed smile!

Also, as we were starving and as part of CR’s recommendation, we ordered the Chilli and Black Bean Pork Ribs.  I must insist, this was the best dish of the night.  I totally enjoyed the thick and delicious bean sauce that coated the ribs!
IMG_7515
Super delicious!

Besides the food in the pics, I also ordered a Hokkien Noodles that came in a serving which could easily serve 3 people. =X!  Fish man, Cr and I were so full.  I did not even feel like walking back to the car. Rolling back seemed like a method better suited to my mood after the meal.  Super lazy!!  At the end of the meal, we were satisfied.  All the wait for the food and poor service was worth it.   The fish head was lovely, the pork ribs legendary but the Hokkien Noodles was mediocre!! I’m starting to think that maybe I should ditch Northbridge for awhile now.  Time to go far away and do not come back until I really miss the restaurants in that place!!

Oh yeah, this is the very first time I’m using my camera after a few months of inactivity.  Recently all my pictures were taken using the Iphone.

and..

TO finish up, I’ve finished the engineering component of my course and all that is left is the commerce part.  My time as a student is almost up.  But to all the mates that have finished their degree, kudos and all the best!

Bites: The Shed @ Northbridge.

I have abandoned my blog for ages now. For this, I would need thank the ongoing thesis which drove every single final year student nuts.  Luckily we are almost at the end now.  Today was the last day of the semester.  While it might seems like every other “last day” of the semester, this one was different.  Almost all my guys friend will not return to university anymore.  They will be busy chasing their dreams and all Winking smile!  Good luck to them all!  To keep a few memories of the times we have gone through together as buddies, we took a few pictures before hitting the Shed for some dinner!!  The pictures are still with the guys.  I’ll post them up once I get them hohoho!

Now about the eating part Smile with tongue out!  I’ve been to the Shed plenty of times already.  Before Yobi left for home, I brought him here.  Vil, Cr and I came here for dinner last summer as well.  And here we are again. All for the sole purpose of eating the yummylicious ribs! :P
photo (13)

Pork Ribs with Jack Daniels sauce for 15 bucks.  Pretty much the tastiest ribs around for that price.  Tony Romas would rob you for at least 35 bucks for the sampler Sad smile!  However, the ribs today was disappointing.  IT did not have enough sauce and MEAT.  Most of the days, the cooks at Shed would give you three lovely pieces of ribs, but today, only 2 :(! BOO!  Nonetheless, it still tasted good.

However, not all were keen to have the ribs.  Xin Ling for example, opted for the Chicken Parmagiana.  She is not a fan of meat on bone ahah.
photo (12)

This was her Chicken Parma!  I think Jimmy had the same as well!  It looked really delicious.  Not sure about the taste though.  I had  a bit of Xin Ling’s and I thought it tasted yummy!  The batter was thin and sufficient.  I really dislike the one in the uni cafe which has like a 10 inch thick batter :(!!

The guys also ordered beer! Rwarrr! Not like I had any, not a fan of beer ahah.

OMG, this blog entry is so dry.  Maybe because I’m brain dead.  Thanks thesis.

Bites: Bonsai @ Roe St., Northbridge.

I have been a bit too caught up with work recently, thanks to the symposium which went pretty well for all of us.  3 days I did not log on to msn, and 200 emails left undeleted or unread.  After that there was finally a spring feast  event which did not result in a fiasco this time around.  Darling and I made 330 bucks from selling fishballs.  A pretty impressive amount for 6 hours of work I’d suppose?

But that is enough of ranting, this is an extension review as a foodie to my recent visit to Bonsai @ Roe st. in Northbridge.  This time it was my cousin’s birthday and he was treating us to a 9 course meal.  Sounds awesome huh?  It actually is ahah but the 9 course is not as grand as it sounds.  However it gave us a rare chance to try the best that Bonsai had to offer.  True enough, out of the 8 appetizer that came out, 8 were brilliant.  But I particularly thought the vegetarian roll was a bit of a scam ahaha.  I did not get to take many pictures because I did not bring my camera and yeah, duh!  Iphone quality is shitty as usual.  So these are the rare few ones that were worthy I guess? aaha

Back Camera

My main was the pork chop cutlet which for me did not taste Japanese, but more like mom’s cooking.  Nice piece of meat despite the small serving.   But that was ok, the appetizers had me filled the brim!  Next was something my cousin said he has every SINGLE time he goes to Bonsai.  This was one slab of monster really.

Back Camera

This was the chocolate indulgence dessert which added to my weight -loss fail toll.  This slab of dreamy chocolate slice brought my meal count to 10 course.  The super indulgent chocolate mousse layer was deliciously smooth.  The macaroons were sweet as hell.  But it was a good start which made the chocolate cake a whole lot more rich in chocolate flavour.  Brilliant piece of dessert.  BUT it is impossible to finish this slice of monstrosity alone.  My cousin saw me struggling and told me that water would help.   At least he acknowledged that I was dying on the dessert ahaha.   And is it just me or when I eat a super smooth and creamy desert, I feel really dreamy and slow =X?  OMG.

My Bonsai experience is very good.  The salads there are the most dope shit ever since  Thai meat salads.  Full of  fresh and crisp greens mixed with a Japanese chemistry of sauces before it is finished by chunky pieces of Karaage.  The grilled asparagus rolled meat stick were unique delights.  Good stuff for a price I would not mind paying.

Last but not the least, this restaurant casts curiosity to patrons looking to see Bonsai plants but see none.  It is however on your plate.  Judging by the appearance of the dishes.  It took a fair bit of time to garnish, and be manicured to serve visual pleasure along with unique taste.  Visual pleasure as a consequence of time and effort are just my thoughts that it is relative to the art of Bonsai ahah.  But then again I believe its true. So yeah :P!

Time to finish the last parts of the thesis.  Its a countdown to massive freedom.

Birthday Bites: Satsuki @ Subiaco.

Tuesday was darling’s birthday.  After a surprise present on midnight, she had more smiles on her than ever.  Glad to see that she’s happy :P  ON the noon of her birthday, her lunch wish could not be simpler because all she wanted was a plate of Indo Mee.  Judging by her sleepy face at noon, I was pretty certain that we were not going anywhere for lunch.  But dinner was different, I had to be an uncle  to make sure she was ready to leave by 7 as reservations were made for half past seven.  Our night was to be celebrated in a restaurant located in Subiaco.  When we reached, we were greeted by the friendly staff that never fails to smile or provide assistance throughout the evening.
FotoFlexer_Photo
A macro of the eating plates :D!   Tinkered with the sharpen function of WLW.
The menu looked super good and I really mean it.  I could have ordered pretty much everything except sashimi which I sort of had in the end anyways.  But before the menu became my highlight, the birthday girl caught my attention, so.. *snap* *snap*
IMG_7448
19th birthday.  Happy birthday darling!

Satsuki serves their food Izakaya style which is essentially a type of dining which encourages social interaction.  Considering how both of us interact so much  at home, this was not really the best setup ahaha.  But nonetheless, it was every bit enjoyable.  The place had a crowd but it was not taxing on our romantic evening.  Ok maybe not so romantic ahahah.  Romantic dinner expensive ok? And also the place I wanted to bring her to has CLOSED DOWN :(! Sobs!!

A few more things to note about Satsuki is the uniqueness of Satsuki’s sushi prepared in the traditional Edomae style.  Whats Edomae?   It’s essentially food art.

First up is a raw fish sushi I usually never enjoy.  Ordered by mistake, savoured with joy.
IMG_7447
The lightly fried battered sushi roll was delicious in every bite.  Finished with chives and stringy red decorations, the raw tuna belly filling was orgasmic.  Fried crisp seaweed on the outside did not tamper with the freshness of the tuna belly.  Class act 1.

Next up is another shocker which took me by storm.  Darling mischievously ordered another fish dish omg!
IMG_7450
Foil baked salmon.  This dish is epic.  The salmon meat was odourless.  A no.1 criteria for the fussy pot me.  The salmon fillet was baked with leek, onions and mushroom before it was served with a citrus ponzu sauce.  Totally gorgeous.  No joke!!

The final dish we ordered for the first round was Agedashi Tofu.  This wasn’t the best Agedashi ever but it was satisfactory.  If only more sauce came with it.  I like the yummy soy broth mixed with the radish bits and ginger a lot.  Without it, its just bean curd.  Plain bean curd is just saddening!
IMG_7451
Om nom nom nom!  Can you believe it?  the first round of order had absolutely no chicken or pork whatsoever.  I’m stunned when I realised this myself.  The Japanese really do wonders in the kitchen.  No doubt!!

After chatting for a bit, we were starting to get hungry again.  But truth be said it was more of her talking and me seeing her talk.  Not sure why was I so quiet that night =X!  Its really a once in a blue moon kind of thing ahah.  I’m rarely quiet.  What more when I’m with her.  Back on to the food, round 2 was more  of a meal suited to the carnivore me.
IMG_7455
Kaarage! Deep fried marinated chicken finished with a citron dressing.  The ang moh sitting at the table next to us went like “Ohh! Ohh! That looks delicious.  I feel like I might steal one of you”  So lamee man that uncle ahah.  Damn random.  But he was right about one thing, that it was delicious.  How can good can deep fried chicken be? VERY GOOD.  I’m always sceptical about paying 10 bucks for 6 pieces of chicken but this was the BOMB.  Other than Toraya, this one was so yummy that I ate more than half of it.  I liked the way the chicken sat on some colourless sauce that gave so much added flavour to the chicken.  The meat was every bit tender and juicy on the inside too!

IMG_7457
The last thing that we ordered was the Dorper lamb “Tatsuta”.  Deep friend Dorper lamb with White su-Miso sauce and a hint of garlic.  Love the garlic but I have absolutely no idea what those red stringy things on top of the dishes I’ve ordered so far, but its starting to feel overused.  Nonetheless, this was as good as the Kaarage but XL liked the Kaarage better though.    The lamb did not even feel chewy or anything.  Not to mention, the hint of garlic flavour made this a pleasant food to savour.

Darling kept telling me that she is very full but the moment I mentioned dessert, I saw the grin ;-)!  We left Satsuki and headed over to Bonsai to finish the evening meal with desserts.

IMG_7462
Sitting together by the window.

She ordered:
IMG_7466
A crepe dessert which I thought should have been more moist between the layers :P  She liked the light texture of the whole thing which I though was a fair call.

To those who read my blog often, they would probably know the dessert of my choice, the Créme Brulee.  OH yeah babehhh!  Topped by a crusty layer of charred sugar, this has always been my favourite dessert.  Of course there is also Tiramisu and all, but this really is the bomb in my opinion.  Simple yet it requires skills to make… in which Bonsai did not fare too well.
IMG_7464
While the crust sugar layer was awesome, the custard was lumpy.  Not the smooth textured one that it should have.  Bleakkksss :P

After finishing up our desserts, we were pretty much up to the brim already.  Good stuff from Satsuki and OK desserts from Bonsai.  Believe they could have done better considering they were practically empty on her birthday night.  But its ok, tomorrow its my cousins birthday, I’ll make sure I get some good shots for the night :P!

Ciao outside!

Bites: Alfred’s Kitchen @ Guildford

The night is cold and the day has been busy.  Not to mention, one of your best mates are leaving on an airplane soon.  With no destination in mind and lots of frustration.  Time to leave the routine business and find that special mug of “night warmer”.  I picked Yobi from his concert yesterday before heading over to the Swan Valley to enjoy the best burger in Western Australia.  Even though the night was late, we were not alone when we arrived.  Loads of other hungry people were there to get a bite of Alfred’s.

alfreds

The night is never cold at Alfred’s.  In fact the heat from the fireplace kept me happy at the counter.  It was like a barbecue made for humans.

Back Camera

Since 1946?  My country did not achieve independence till 1957 mate. No wonder the burgers here are epic.

Back Camera

After waiting for quite awhile, it paid off.  A juicy patty between two classic sesame buns finished with crisp lettuce and spicy caramelised onions. Yumms!  I had the chilli burger while Yobi had the hamburger with bacon and cheese.  Yobi finished his burger in a flash. When he was done he had hesitation scribbled all over his face.  I gave him the WTF.  He was like “Wah! Does not enough!”.  He had a sudden dilemma but in the end chose a bag of fries with salt overload.  Just the way he likes it!! ahaha

It took me 30 minutes of driving to get here but no regrets for all that driving.  The night didn’t feel so bad anymore after that burger in my tummy.  The quiet drive home felt peaceful with no worries.  I like it!

Bites: San Churros @ Subiaco

The fat boy Yobi is back in town!!  Having been out of Malaysia for quite awhile, we decided to head out to Subiaco to stack up on his lost calories.  His Euro tour was one comparable to a Buddhist monk journey.  Except that he travels from country to country promoting his Chinese face in which he every off and on complains that his eyes are too small ahaha.  Not wanting to have chop suey or anything Asian for dinner, I was brain squeezed to find a place that he has not been to before.  No little Caesar, Jus B or any 20 dollar pastas that I have brought him to.  I then recalled one of my little surf ups on the internet, and I thought why not visit the burger place I saw before and we surely did.  We headed straight to FAB burger to get a slice of the rights to go head on with the critics.

When we reached, we were made paranoid by a crowd was barely present, and that was until we sank our teeth into the burgers that turned out to be a good combination of toppings and sauce.  Yobi had the Royale with bacon and aged cheddar while I had the Hot American which spicy Pepperoni.  It is however, unfortunate that the beef patty does not stand out (no burger joint does).   Filled by the small burger that did not take long to chomp down, Yobi and I decided to bring our bitching to San Churros located not to far away.  And jeng jeng jeng jeng!!!  There was something new that is suited to the title the king of calories.

Back Camera

The old skool math.

Picking up this new pair of kicks was as if Nike Harbour Town is starting to get back on track.  The ultramarine coloured retro Air 180 was definitely a good pick up after a long time being out of action.  Did not even have to hesitate! Dream came true too cheap a price.  Funny thing is though, little darling thought I picked up the pair of sneaks to get the extra 50% off our shoes.  Oops did I mention 50% off?

Later on that week my dream came true happened once again when YH, Xin Ling and I visited the all time favourite Japanese Chef Akira-san at Kanta.  The restaurant named after his horse is like the best-EST ever for the price we paid.  Its like diamond sold as copper.

The Japanese calls this Teriyaki, I call it Kung Fu.

We happily finished the weekend nibbling on squid legs, raw beef salad and lovely sushi at the place.  Yi Heng was as happy as a foody can be.  Eating slice by slice of his sliced duck steak while Xin Ling happily kept on commenting on her springy noodles in the chicken ramen.  Cannot get enough for sure.  Previous post on the restaurant below:

Bites: Delizioso Cafe @ Subiaco

Has little Caesar lost its place as the best Pizza in town?  Hmm maybe, but more than likely according to the newspaper.  The article in the Morning Herald mentioned about the new “IT” place in town that has been pretty low on profile despite its good records in recent competition and so.  The place called Delizioso was featured in the article here. I was happy and more than keen to try out this new finding.  Sure enough, it turned out to be full on creativity made on small square of pastry.

Back Camera

How about pumpkin sauce for a change instead of tomato for the base?  Or maybe the award winning mushroom trio topped with loads of crumbled ricotta?  These were pretty delicious, and it is ridiculously heavy on the tummy =X!  No wonder they charge almost 7 bucks a slice.  This place is no food science and neither does it kill Picasso in art but its bring a feel as if it is in a class of its own.   Not bad for a hideous cafe.

As simple as: ABC 123

fooddyyy yum yum!  Last week ended the winter with a whole lot of steam.  The last steamboat for winter at my sister’s house was in every way as pleasing as how a winter’s meal should be.  Lots of balls, vegetables and meat to cook in the awesome herbal pork broth!  My sister does her broth with scallops and mushrooms! Yummy!  And then on the Sunday, we headed to Hillarys for a drink to chill out.  Had some hot chocolate and yummy Churros by the harbour.  The distance is worth the good view you get I must insist!

Bites: Il Ciao @ Applecross

My sister has been craving for shanks for over a fortnight now.  And to no avail she’s been deprived of it at every western meal we have.   The one at Christina’s and now at this other restaurant Il Ciao @ Applecross.  Nonetheless, it was she missed the shank as I managed to have a good tryout at a new restaurant.  My meal at Christina’s was quite a disaster with the grilled chicken and pasta being the worst combination ever.  But at Il Ciao, it was no where near as bad as the one at Christina’s.
IMG_7410
While the grilled chicken was not a tender boast, the flavoursome marinade on the grilled chicken skin was deliciously spiced with chilli flakes and with the additional acidity from the lemon, gawd!  But the highlight was the additional 3 dollars I paid for the Bolognaise.  Definitely the best bolognaise in Perth.  Or at least my sister, Xin Ling and I enjoyed it to bits!  So much that I tried replicating my childhood Bolognaise that  my maid used to make.  The guys thought the pasta came out quite OK.  I even topped it with a large piece of crumbled chicken! MAN!!! It was ok only though =.=!  Oh and the funny thing about the Bolognaise at Il Ciao is that you can only have it as an addition to the mains but not as a main by itself.  Saddening :( boooo!

Other than the grilled chicken, the three of us shared another steak dish which was funnily small =X!

The steak looks delicious doesn’t it?  It was just that I felt the sides were a bit disappointing.  Boiled potatoes and grilled vegetables were not the things to go with a juicy side of steak.  I would prefer something like the normal mash or perhaps something more kid-like such as chips ahah.

Funny thing about the three of us is how little we eat for the main but have similarly as much for dessert.  After sharing the two mains, we shared two cakes that were huge ass!  Butterscotch cheese cake for the win and the orange teacake taste every bit like mom’s orange butter cake but my mom does it better  :D!!

By the end of the meal, all three of us were super full as how I would describe myself at the end of the meals I have.  Il Ciao next to Terrazza is similarly as good in different dishes.  I would go to Terrazza for the Ala Vodka pasta and the lamb shank or if I’m in Il Ciao, the grilled chicken is something I liked quite a fair bit.  The Bolognaise, needless to mention was nice.  Maybe I was a bit crazy that day although there was no reason to be so.  But it was good!!!  Recommended!!
